Pool Play Tournament Rules 

The clock stops on all whistles and high school rules will be used with the following exceptions: 

  • 6-minute quarters for all games, boys and girls 
  • No press until the 2nd half for 5th and 6th grade boys and girls 
  • No press until the 4th quarter for 3rd and 4th grade boys and girls 
  • 3rd grade boys and 4th grade boys and girls may cross the line on free-throw attempts 
  • Violations:1st—Warning;2nd—Technical Foul 
  • Two 45-second time outs per half (no carry-overs) 
  • Mercy rule: Continuous clock when leading by 15 points or more in the 4th quarter. Team leading cannot press 
  • One, 2-minute overtime during Pool Play. Sudden death thereafter. Unlimited 2-minute overtimes during Semi- Finals and Championship Game. 
  • One timeout per team, per overtime 
  • 5-minute warm-up 
  • 5-minute half-time 

Certified referees will be assigned to each game. Youth size basketball (28.5) will be used for all games. 

Players and coaches are required to report to their assigned court later than 20 minutes before tip-off. Coaches, please check the scorebook to verify names and numbers at this time. 

Players are permitted on one roster only. Players may play up a grade level. Boys must play in the boys’ tournament and girls must play in the girls’ tournament. 

Team must be comprised of players attending the community’s local school district or reside in that community’s school district. Proof may be required so please be prepared. 

Tie-breakers for pool play will be determined by the following: 1.) head-to-head record 2.) fewest points allowed 3.) point differential—maximum of 15 points 4.) points scored 5.) coin toss 

Rosters are limited to 12 players and 2 coaches. Passes will be provided to players and 2 coaches.

We reserve the right to start games 10-minutes early or reduce warm-up/half-time to stay on schedule. 

Stow Travel Basketball reserves the right to remove anyone from the tournament facilities due to unsportsmanlike conduct or unruly behavior.
